Pediatric Cardiology

Pediatrics is an academic field related to the study of development and disorders in children and adolescents. Research projects at the Department of Pediatrics, Clinical Sciences Lund at Lund University include the study of disorders in newborn infants (neonatology), especially diagnostics and prevention of brain injury in preterm infants and pain research, diagnostics and treatment of heart diseases (pediatric cardiology) and of renal disorders particularly hemolytic uremic syndrome, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, vasculitis and IgA nephropathy (pediatric nephrology). Further research activities are involved in the study of neurological disorders (pediatric neurology), handicap, as well as treatment and long-term follow-up of cancer, metabolic diseases (diabetes), and cystic fibrosis.
